Televisionpoint.com Team The South of our country will see a new Malayalam channel. Amrita Television, Promoted by Amrita Enterprises, will go on air on April 14, the Kerala's New year.
"We have no intention of dishing out light entertainment. We are positioning ourselves as a channel that provides value-based programming. We will attempt all formats, but the treatment will be different. We want to provide a mix of entertainment and education," says Amrita TV ED Suresh Narayan.
The list of Malayalam television channels will grow to eight with the launch of Amrita TV. Amrita TV will cover the whole of Asia from Japan to the Gulf countries, Australia, Europe and North America.
Amrita TV is aimed to promote value-oriented and socially-responsible programme content to address all human behavior in lifestyle, relationship, manner, and ethics. The total cost for the Amrita channel is RS 240 million, which is contributed by the devotees of the Mata Amritanandamayi, also called as Amma. Amrita TV will go live with the First Amrita Film Fraternity Awards. |
