Televisionpoint.com Team Deccan Chronicle Holdings, the publishers of Deccan Chronicle and The Asian Age newspapers to consolidate its position in South India, has ordered printing equipment's for launching Trichy & Coimbatore editions, but as there is unprecedented demand at Chennai place the second mission ordered have been under commissioning at Chennai.
Deccan Chronicle said that the Chennai experience has resulted into upgrade of the capacity and speed of equipment, therefore, to meet the parameters, the delivery schedule have been changed.
P K Iyer, Executive Director, Deccan Chronicle Holdings, said, "Deccan Chronicle in its move to establish a strong presence in Tamil Nadu will be launching the Trichy edition by the end of March 2006 and the Coimbatore edition would be commissioned by September 2006."
On entering Karnataka market, he says "Currently, We have no plans for Karnataka, first we desire to lead the TN market and establish our presence here, as we are the leaders in Andhra Pradesh." The Chennai edition of Deccan Chronicle garners a circulation figure of 2,50,000 copies on weekdays and 3,00,000 on Sundays and out of these, about 25,000 copies are through the ICICI cardholders subscription tie-up.
Deccan Chronicle annual general meeting which was held recently, has authorised the management to issue up to 9 % of the foreign currency convertible bonds (FCCBs) aggregating up to RS 250 crore to foreign institutional investors, convertible into equity shares at the end of the maturity period of five years. |
