Multi System Operators, MSOs and Cable Operators have called off their strike in Karnataka. This comes after an assurance from the government, who will look into their demand for single point tax levy and waiver of tax arrears.

As earlier reported by Televisionpoint.com,Cable transmission was switched off on Friday protesting against the hike in entertainment tax, the commercial tax department had issued the MSOs legal notices and had threatened to seize equipment to recover the 10 per cent entertainment tax on them with retrospective effect from April 2002.

P G R Sindhia, Finance Minister, says, "We have told MSOs and the cable operators that the taxation will be at a single point. I will discuss with the officials on how and what should be done. Discussions will take place in the assembly and the government will come out with a policy by the next budget session."
