BBC World will telecast its new theme-based series The Emerging Giants season in June this year, the series is of news reports and programmes exploring two of the world's most dynamic countries, India and China.

The series will include hard-core news reports and analytical programming to reflect where the economies of the two emerging countries are headed in the next 20 years, it will also study their potential impact on the rest of the world.

The other major highlight is the four special editions of HARDtalk presented by Stephen Sackur, who says, "India and China are global economic stories and we want to show audiences what changes are occurring in these two emerging economies because the world has set its sights on these two."

As part of the special episodes, Sackur will interview business, political and social leaders including Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel, Joakim Arputham of Mumbai Slum Dwellers Association, environmental activist Dr Vandana Shiva and industrialist Rahul Bajaj.
