Televisionpoint.com Correspondent ENPS continues its run of new signings across Asia with the latest addition of Asianet, based in Kerala. Asianet's reporters will soon join over 4500 journalists already using the newsroom computer system across Asia and the Asia Pacific.
The broadcaster has three channels, including a 24 hour news channel, which is where the system will first be installed. Chief General Manager, Suresh Narayan, who also set up the ambitious Amrita TV project last year in India, will spearhead this latest newsroom venture. ENPS will run alongside Leitch servers and VizRT and Vertigo graphics systems.
Asianet will be ENPS' sixth Indian client, joining the stable of international broadcasters in the country's fast-expanding media industry. These include India's national broadcaster Doordarshan. Others are Sahara TV, Amrita TV, Channel 7 JTV and Malayala Manorama, the latter two having both launched 24-hour satellite channels.
ENPS has seven Australian clients including Nine Network Australia, Sky News Australia, 10 Network, the WIN group, Queensland Institute of Technology, NBN, Imparja TV and Southern Cross in Canberra.
ENPS also has a list of clients from Bangladesh, Indonesia, the Philippines, Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, Taiwan and Afghanistan. The Broadcast Technology group of the Associated Press is responsible for the initial development and constant improvement of ENPS. Along with product management, training, support and documentation staff based at AP's Broadcast News Center in Washington, DC, a London-based team focuses on the needs of Europe, the Middle East, Africa and the Asia-Pacific region.
ENPS combines intuitive functionality with powerful features, including program rundowns, scripting, planning, contacts, messaging, archiving, third-party device control, publishing, news wire management, full text searching, tightly integrated resilience capabilities and language support. Designed by and for broadcasters, ENPS fits the changing needs of all types of broadcast news environments. |
