Televisionpoint.com Correspondent | Mumbai DNA YA!, the children's magazine from DNA, Mumbai's fastest growing newspaper has won the PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) Proggy Award for the Best Animal Friendly Children's Supplement.
The Proggy stands for progress and was awarded to DNA YA! for its ultra animal friendly content ranging from India's dismal zoos to interesting facts about animals.
Other companies that also received the Proggy are Channel [V], Baggit, Little Italy, MAC, animal lover Nishiki Bhavnani, PUMA and Parikrama amongst others.
Says Sheena Saji, Marketing head, DNA, "At DNA YA! We encourage children to make more compassionate choices which contribute to a more humane way of life by raising awareness about animal rights issues."
Says Anuradha Sengupta, Editor, DNA YA!, "Animals need our help and we encourage people to do whatever they can to make their lives better. This is our small way of fighting for animal rights and in inculcating this awareness in the children of today for a better tomorrow."
Over the years PETA has given the Proggy awards to people and companies across the world that distinguish themselves towards their efforts in helping animals.
This is the second award won by YA! The magazine won the IFRA Bronze award in 2007 for best designed newspaper supplement. IFRA is an international publishers' association, which recognises a newspaper's contribution to overall layout, originality, and content.
