India News' Yeh Mera India show engulfs Nepal

Televisionpoint.com Correspondent | Mumbai India News, a 24-hour news channel run by Information TV Pvt Ltd, has sacked its graphics designer after a gaffe over a logo that showed Nepal as part of India.
In its Yeh Mera India programme, the channel used the map of India as the logo. However, the map on display, instead of showing Nepal as a separate country, showed it as part of Indian territory, ruffling feathers in Nepal.
A newly launched private Nepali TV station, Sagarmatha Television, began a campaign since last week, highlighting the error, displaying how the boundary should have been, and accusing the Indian channel of being part of a conspiracy to attack Nepal's sovereignty.
The sustained campaign finally forced the Nepal Embassy in New Delhi to stir into action. The Nepali ambassador to India, Durgesh Man Singh, told the channel Wednesday that the error had been rectified and that he would ask the Indian authorities to obtain an apology from the Indian station. |
