ICL appoints Provogue as official Apparel Partner

The Indian Cricket League (ICL) has appointed apparel brand Provogue as its official Apparel Partner for the season 2, which starts from October 10. The deal will see Provogue provide the entire clothing requirements for the players and officials featuring in ICL's forthcoming tournament.

Shariq Patel, senior vice-president, marketing and operations, ICL, said, "We are happy that an established apparel line like Provogue has contributed to our endeavor of providing the best back-end support to enhance the performance level of the modern day sports person."

The launch of Provogues's new collection saw some of the ICL players like Craig McMillan, Shane Bond, Daryl Tuffey, Rohan Gavaskar, Deep Dasgupta, Chetan Sharma and T P Singh walk the ramp with film stars Imran Khan, Minissha Lamba and Vidhya Malvade at the fashion show held in New Delhi.

The ICL is promoting its latest season with a marketing budget of Rs 50 crore, after having had a lacklusture outing in its first version. The BCCI promoted Indian Premier League (IPL) had stolen the limelight from ICL in the previous season, despite the fact that ICL was the first to bring the Twenty20 league format, with international stars playing alongside domestic players, to India.

For ICL's second season, the organisers have roped in a few sponsors and have raked in close to Rs 100 crore as advertising revenues. Apart from Provogue, Future Group and Airtel have signed on as on-air co-presenting sponsors, while Manikchand Oxyrich is ICL's bottled water partner. Idea Cellular is the title sponsor for ICL 2.
