Televisionpoint.com recently, Samsung on Friday announced its association with Olympic gold medallist Abhinav Bindra for their liquid crystal display (LCD) television range for one year.
The company has also kick-started a new print campaign from October. There is also outdoor advertising and a television commercial (TVC), which will be released on October 13.
"With Abhinav Bindra as our new brand ambassador, our strong and differentiated product line-up and our enhanced distribution reach, will further strengthen Samsung's position in the Indian market," said R Zutshi, deputy managing director, Samsung India Electronics.
At present, even though Bindra will be seen endorsing Samsung's LCD range of televisions, as mentioned by Zutshi, he is the overall Samsung brand face and may be seen promoting other products in the future.
Bindra recently broke the tie-up with the management agency Collage Sports Management owned by Lathika Khaneja. Earlier this year, Samsung had roped in Aamir Khan as the brand ambassador for their mobile phones. But the company for long did not have any celebrity brand face for their consumer durables.
Notably, Samsung was the worldwide Olympic partner and sponsor of the Indian team to the Beijing Olympics. The company also hosted the send-off event for the Indian Olympics contingent. Samsung had also announced cash rewards of Rs 20 lakh for the gold medal winners, Rs 15 lakh for silver medallists and Rs 10 lakh for bronze medal winners at the Beijing Olympics.
