UTV Entertainment Television Ltd (UETL), which houses UTV Movies and World Movies, has signed a satellite syndication deal with Zee Entertainment, whereby the former has licensed rights for 21 films on a non-exclusive basis for India and overseas.

The movies, which would be telecast on Zee TV and Zee Cinema in the coming months, include a mix of commercial blockbusters and critically acclaimed films like Jodhaa Akbar, Race, Life in a Metro, Mumbai Meri Jaan, A Wednesday and Welcome to Sajjanpur, informs an official statement from UETL.

UTV was having a dream year in 2008 with all its releases performing well at the box office. Right from Jodhaa Akbar, Race and Kismet Konnection to small and medium budget films like Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na (overseas release), Aamir, Mumbai Meri Jaan, A Wednesday and Welcome To Sajjanpur – critics and audiences have reacted positively to these releases.

This Diwali, the studio would launch the much awaited Madhur Bhandarkar film, Fashion, which would be followed up with Oye Lucky, Lucky Oye! from Dibakar Banerjee (director of Khosla Ka Ghosla); Dev D, a modern day retelling of the classic Devdas, directed by Anurag Kashyap; and the laugh riot Dhoondte Reh Jaaoge.
