Televisionpoint.com Correspondent | Thiruvanthapuram By setting a new box office record, multi-starrer Malayalam movie Twenty:20 appears to have breathed new life into the Malayalam film industry, which has had very few hits this year.
In the first week of its release, the film has grossed over Rs 9 crore, which is a new record in Mollywood. The production cost was around Rs 6 crore. The film was released in three to four theatres in the main centres, most of which are running on full house.
The film was released in 117 centres with around 48 in digital format and the rest in print form, which is a new record. Till now even the super hit Malayalam movie had not grossed beyond Rs 5 to 6 crore.
The movie produced by actor Dileep under the initiative of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (Amma), has as many as 85 actors, including the major superstars appearing in it.
Amma has undertaken to make such a movie to strengthen welfare measures implemented by it for the actors. Going at this rate, the movie is expected to gross over Rs 15 crore. |
