Televisionpoint.com Correspondent | London Marty Pompadur has steped down as executive vice-president, News Corporation and chairman, News Corp. Europe. Pompadur will remain an external advisor to the company.
In his decade with the company, Pompadur has been instrumental in creating three successful businesses - News Corp. Europe's television station group in Central and Eastern Europe; its radio station group in Russia; and the leading outdoor advertising company in Russia and other emerging markets.
Rupert Murdoch, chairman and CEO, News Corporation, says, "Marty has played an important role building unique broadcast operations in Central and Eastern Europe and the number one outdoor advertising operation in emerging Europe. We will miss him as a colleague, but wish him every success in the future."
Pompadur said, "My initial commitment to the Company grew to last a decade. It's been a wonderful ten years, however, at this point in my life, I have a number of personal goals yet to fulfill requiring me to step back from News Corporation."
The planned transition of his responsibilities began in May 2008 when News Corp. appointed Tom Mockridge as CEO, European Television. |
