Starcom MediaVest Group restructures Asian operations

    Tuesday - Nov 18, 2008

Starcom MediaVest Group (SMG) has restructured its operations in Asia. A few markets have been identified as the emerging areas that are expected to add to the overall SMG growth in the time to come.

Amongst the other changes, the Asia restructuring would see Ravi Kiran, chief executive officer, South Asia, SMG, being entrusted with additional responsibilities as emerging market leader of specialist solutions. This move aims to drive the growth of specialised communication tools in markets such as India, China, Russia, West Asia, Mexico and Poland.

At the Asia level, Jeffrey Seah has been appointed as chief executive officer, Southeast Asia (including Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam), with additional focus on digital expansion in these markets. Seah comes from Mindshare.

Paul Maher, who will continue to be chief executive officer of SMG's North Asia operations, will focus on China and oversee Taiwan, Japan, the Philippines and Korea. Together, they make the SMG Asia Leadership Team and will report to Andrew Swinand, president, global operations, SMG.

"Given the importance of growth in China and India, along with expanding our digital footprint in the region, I felt strongly that all three areas should receive top-level leadership focus," says Swinand.
