From DEC 1 to DEC 29, 2005, Televisionpoint.com has sent questionnaires to about 800 people, the persons who indicated that they are willing to participate in the various surveys conducted exclusively by Televisionpoint.com, including the current survey. We received 408 valid responses from these people, 'the respondents', who are the citizens of India, about Two thirds of the respondents were below the age of thirty, out of which 35% were the corporate professionals, and the remaining were the general public and the students. We spoke to the Karta of the SEC A household or the decision making/decision influencing person of the household, who were interested to take this Survey. This is not a normal survey, but a thorough conducted survey. For the Survey Logix's, the places covered were Navi Mumbai, Hyderabad, Indore. How much Television do you watch per day?

Television is an Indian Institution today, the results about how much TV Do you watch, prove that women are more addicted to Television than men. An average Indian women spends about 148 minutes per day watching TV, while men averaged only 90 minutes. 30 per cent of the women respondents indicated that they wish to watch TV for more than Three hours a day, on the other hand only 7 per cent men would like to watch TV for more than Three hours. Sports and Adventure programs are more popular towards men, about 68 per cent, while 29 per cent women love to watch Cricket on TV. On the same hand, News programs are also more popular towards men, about 85 per cent, while 60 per cent women like to watch News and Current affairs on TV. A key point to be noted is that Students spend almost 120 minutes on TV and Corporate executive's averaged only 80 minutes per day. Music and Entertainment related programs are extremely popular amongst students, whereas niche programs and information related News and Business programs are more philic towards executives.

The most preferred time for watching Television

Television is now the epicenter of Indian culture and heritage for its home entertainment, the most preferred time for watching TV is at Night for the primetime shows. About 95 percent of the respondents indicated that they watch regularly the 2100 - 2300 shows. Another hard-hitting fact is that more than two-thirds of the respondents also wish to watch TV in the Morning and Afternoon band, but a very few indicated to watch at Evening 1600 - 1900 hours.

How many Television Sets do you own?

Indians watch Television Room to Room. Accordingly, there are 2 Television Sets per household, less than 2 percent of the respondents indicated that they don't own a TV Set at all, 20 percent indicated to have more than Three Televisions Sets in their homes, while a majority of 65 percent responded to have either one or two TVs in their household. Television is today more essential than Furniture. Seven in ten of our respondents say that the TV is located in the Living room.

Your most favorite Program Category on TV is?

Television offers Companionship, TV is the first appliance to be turn on when the respondents come home, as to relax and relieve stress. We were also able to find the popular programmes across various channels, the type of genre, the type of category whether it is News or Drama or Sports or Mythological saga. About two-thirds indicated to watch News regularly on Television, Soaps and Drama comes next to News with 60 per cent unique viewers. Movies and Sports are evenly loved by the viewers with a equity ratio of 76 : 75.
